In the spirit of a conversation I had earlier on #Nostr - I’d like to say I’ve internalized enough credible information (and personal n=1 results) that’s changed my mind on a controversial topic.

The “calories in, calories out” theory is not the correct physiological model for humans. It’s not accurate and it’s not healthy.

Not all calories are created equal. Calories derived from carbohydrates are substantially harder for humans to metabolize and in doing so insulin must be secreted in large amounts. This physiological reaction turns off ketosis (fat burning) and turns on the fat storage state.

The states of the human metabolism matter much more than the raw input of calories.

I have been eating 3000+ calories daily (mostly red meat but cheese and eggs too) for almost 2 years and I am lean and have the most muscle mass I’ve ever had. I’m also 38 years old and have not been going to the gym so that’s not a typical state for a person of my age.

Strict carnivore diet will end metabolic dysfunction and catalyze weigh loss even eating 2-3 lbs of beef per day. This is a fact.

To anyone struggling with weight loss or metabolic / hormonal dysfunction: you do not have to (and absolutely should not) starve yourself to get to a “healthy” weight. Being nutritionally sufficient is as important to human health as being a healthy weight.

When you eat a proper human diet (meat) you will achieve both an optimal weight and complete nutritional sufficiency at the same time, you will eat a lot and eat until you’re full, and you won’t get violently hungry or crash at all in time. The effects of this will permeate all aspects of your overall health.
