Just saw an old infomercial from 2000 for a PC package (wow, complete with Windows Me!). Stuff like this is always amusing. However, this one is puzzling. They keep promoting that it includes a search engine called "General Search" -- and indeed, I see it there on the screen. And they say that this "General Search" will provide buyers with free Internet access (via 56K modem) for as long as they own the computer.
This disturbs me. I don't recall ever hearing of a search engine called General Search, whether Internet access was included or not. Nor am I finding any references to it in a (rather cursory) search.
Does this ring a bell with anyone?
