And speaking of GNU/Hurd... I mention it so much because I've always been fascinated by mikrokernel architecture.

In theory, they're perfect, but they're very difficult to implement. However, if you manage to do so, you end up with a system that's more robust than any other.

The only one that has been successful so far is QNX, a real-time operating system that, interestingly, is used in nuclear power plants, aviation, astronautics, etc.

GNU/Hurd is an attempt to bring a microkernel-based system to general-purpose computers, but it has been in development for over 30 years and is still in alpha. Hurd was the core of the GNU system, but as it was immature at the time, over 30 years ago, it was decided to adopt Linux.

Today, we are still in the same situation.

But we have Redox, a microkernel-based Unix-like system with its own graphics server and desktop, written in Rust and open source.
