Paying for the server resources you're using is part of the v4v eco-system. If you start streaming on Twitch today you wont be discovered for the next 12-18 months and you'll be most likely talking to yourself. Then you'll have to take their tax interview and KYC to get monetarised and then you have to build the audience to accumulate the viewership to make enough every month to meet their withdrawal limits. All of that while Twitch keeps taking 50% of the money people are donating to your channel to support you.

People can start building their presence on zapstream from 1 sat/min ($3.44 or 6,000 sats to stream 100/h). That's a very reasonable price to build a community, an audience and grow as a "content creator" or to stream for fun. While streaming at that price the streamer can restream to YT (and other sites) for free and YT will store your recordings for them forever, for free. Once the streamer starts earning sats they can then switch to a better plan on ZS if they like.

Building anything comes at a cost if that is money or your time or something else.

However, the reason why many people on nostr haven't been able to build up their channels is mainly because they lack consistency. They stream a few times (mostly without any concept or plan) then they just stop. The viewers are there, many of them but there isn't enough creators to provide more diverse content to speak to larger variety of nostr users. Meaning, I mostly chat and game during my streams and I average 10-30 viewers. 2/3 of them bounce after a short while because they may not be interested in my content and when they hit the home page they don't see other content making them bounce from the site. Meaning, there is enough consumers but not enough diverse content to keep them engaged.

However, expecting Kieran to cover the costs so other people can play around and have fun on his account is not the solution. The pricing and available streaming plans on ZS are cheap enough to let anyone stream in an attempt to build a community / following. Brings us back to the point of people expecting to get paid without putting in the PoW.
