NIP-09

Deletion requests

NIP-09 defines deletion requests. If you publish something and later want it removed, your client can publish a new signed event saying which older event you want relays and clients to treat as deleted.

This is more like asking libraries to stop shelving a book than magically erasing every copy on earth. Cooperative relays and clients can honor the request, but anything already copied elsewhere may still exist.
