NIP-12

Tag queries

NIP-12 defines how clients can search relays by event tags. That makes it possible to ask for events connected to a person, topic, note, or other reference.

NIP-12 is one of the small agreements that lets different Nostr apps understand the same kind of activity. In everyday terms, it is like agreeing on the shape of a form: once everyone uses the same form for tag queries, people can move between apps without losing the meaning of what they created.
