NIP-13

Proof of work

NIP-13 adds a way to attach proof-of-work difficulty to events. Relays and clients can use that as a spam-resistance signal when deciding what to accept or show.

NIP-13 is one of the small agreements that lets different Nostr apps understand the same kind of activity. In everyday terms, it is like agreeing on the shape of a form: once everyone uses the same form for proof of work, people can move between apps without losing the meaning of what they created.
