Reposts

NIP-18 defines reposts, which are Nostr's version of sharing or boosting someone else's event. Instead of copying the original text into a new post, the repost points back to the original event.

That pointer matters because clients can count shares, show who boosted something, and still keep the original author and event clear. It is like saying “look at this” while handing people the original page, not a photocopy.
