NIP-45

Event counts

NIP-45 lets clients ask relays for counts instead of downloading all matching events. For example, an app can ask “how many replies are there?” without fetching every reply just to count them.

That makes interfaces faster and lighter. It is like asking a librarian how many books match a topic before deciding whether you need the whole stack.
