NIP-73

External content IDs

NIP-73 defines references to content outside Nostr, such as URLs, books, movies, or other media IDs. It helps Nostr discussions point to the same outside object.

NIP-73 is one of the small agreements that lets different Nostr apps understand the same kind of activity. In everyday terms, it is like agreeing on the shape of a form: once everyone uses the same form for external content ids, people can move between apps without losing the meaning of what they created.
