This is a gamechanger for low-carbon energy.
There is an estimated four billion tonnes of uranium dissolved in seawater.
Using electrochemical extraction, uranium energy resources are now available to any population with a coastline. The cost of the fuel is higher than for terrestrial uranium, at about four one-thousandths of a US cent per kWh (e) produced, but still cheaper than any other fuel.
This is enough uranium to supply humanity's current energy needs for ten millenia. Longer if we supplement with intermittent renewables (where and when those produce more energy than they consume over their working lives.)
Solving the problem "wrong" for most Western leaders, of course. The Establishment Left demand the imposition of a level of energy poverty Westerners haven't known since the early 1700s. The Establishment Right demand borrowing money to give to BlackRock to "sequester" CO2 at uneconomic prices with no plan for scaling up.
But I'm hopeful that China, India, Russia et. al will do the right thing.
Western economies can remain nuclear-free, and export minerals and sex-tourism once the credit cards max out.

Little Boy was a simple U-235 "gun-type" design, Fat Man a Pu-239 hollow-pit implosion, but without any booster.
Modern warheads are all Pu-239, and it is believed all nuclear powers, even the minor ones, have mastered boosting - a few grams of tritium and deuterium gas inside the hollow pit, that fuses under the pressure generated by the initial burst of fission, yielding a small number of 14 MeV "hard" fusion neutrons to catalyse further fission.
Only a few powers (US, France, Britain, Russia, China and India) have gone on to develop "true" three-stage H-bombs, using lithium deuteride secondaries "downstream" of the primary pit.
(None of that is classified, I never held a clearance high enough to see the details!)

China's way of war is incredibly destructive.
Combined with their poor logistics last century, they killed hundreds of thousands of neighbours for trifling territorial gains - two river islands they failed to hold against the USSR in 1981 (Putin then ceded those in the 2000s), 40% of a Korean mountain in '53, the cratered ruins of one Vietnamese village in 1981. Admittedly the seizure of the (Vietnamese) Paracel Islands in '75 was a better prize. Scarborough Shoal in PH right now is of minimal value, mostly fishing rights.
Agree re Russia, total disagree re China.
In the West, our educators run interference for the CCP for free, and our leaders for favours, but in East Asia people will tell you what they think.

- Iodine prophylaxis has no empirical basis. Soviet citizens given iodine developed thyroid cancer at rates indistinguishable from those that were not. Laboratory models have also failed to find a protective effect.
- Modern three-stage warheads fission kilograms, not merely grams. But your point remains 100% true - reactors have fuel loads in the tens of tonnes.
- Hiroshima/Nagasaki (Little Boy and Fat Man) did not use Tritium and Deuterium boosters, the boosted fission design wasn't tested until '49 IIRC.

Grains are the poor man's staple for very, very good reasons.

Calories are standard only because they are easy to measure.
Doesn't take into account the metabolic costs of digestion or the myriad antinutrients plants contain. Or their interactions.
Weight gain in rats as a fraction of mass of food consumed for a particular diet is a much better metric.
(Yes, rats nutrition is quite relevant to human nutrition. After the primates and the tree shrews, Rodentia are our closest living relatives).

I would take "10 A/hrs" with a cup of salt. Probably the same usable capacity as the 5 if you're lucky.
The genuine batteries are more likely to tolerate higher temperatures, but also more likely to firmware-brick if their internal SoC assesses you have a usage profile like a contractor but with a consumer-grade brand.
I can confirm this happens with Makita, and I can also confirm those cells work beautifully with fake but obedient Chinese control board.

IMHO, drugs of dependence are suicide, but with extra steps. And with a non-trivial chance of being saved, but with a lot more harm inflicted on third parties.
I never met anyone who tried heroin / fentanyl without going through suicidal thoughts first. I'm sure such people exist, but I've not met one.
If hard drugs were legal, people would still kill themselves with them, but there'd be less adulteration, and no need to commit crimes of addiction (pharmaceutical-grade heroin in a thing for terminal cancer patients, and less than $1 a hit. Fentanyl is even cheaper to manufacture.)
We're not saving anyone by keeping them illegal, anyone who wants to find will. But by keeping them illegal we greatly empower the prison-industrial complex, the secret police services, and police informers aka organised crime bosses.

I own two political t-shirts that are now illegal to wear in public in my state, so I should get one like your mogen-david-inside-banned-symbol.
I don't see how they could ban that as an extremist symbol under current legislation :D
