This makes sense and a long-term plan is optimal. My main concern atm is my body temperature (~0.5C lower on avg than ideal) and some dry skin, otherwise doing pretty good.

The AppVerifier TOFU UX is subpar in my opinion (better than PGP though).
Zapstore aims to improve on this, add malware/privacy checks, reproducibility attestations and more. As well as discovery and monetization - two big issues for open source developers in particular.

They are repeaters, they listen to messages from some people and send them to many others. Sometimes they store these messages for later broadcasting.
Anyone can run these repeaters, and many do, that is why nostr messages are so difficult -practically impossible- to stop.

Shill me a Linux laptop comparable to a Mac M4.
Processor must be ARM or otherwise as silent as a Mac. Should not feel cheap, especially not keyboard and trackpad.
Willing to pay 50% more than an M4 for comparable performance and battery life.
Pretty sure it does not exist, but let's give this a try.

I used Fedora with Gnome many times, it's quite nice actually. I recall a major pain was something related to how moving files from/to the Desktop works (the UX there is broken) and this is a great example @nprofile…7hy7 of something that I would've liked to change but is not possible, even in an open system. It would take months to research, understand, recompile, etc - let's be real no one has time for this. There are plenty other "glitches" like these. MacOS on the other hand is (and feels) solid AF.
As for hardware, I will not buy any non-ARM ever again (my latest laptop with a powerful Intel processor is still slow and noisy compared to a Mac).
I tried Asahi Linux (on Fedora too) which is fast and silent, but lacks important features like connecting an external display.
