What are the requirements you're working to?
My intuition is to start off with one relay per community, with relay selection options for that. Easy to work with, can have multiple communities of the same name. The moderators configure who joins through configuring relays.
Its a base case that most are familiar with, and higher granularity can come as needed.

You'll have all your money in something thats always losing value, while the more "sensible" individuals are spending at a higher rate or storing their value in something that won't lose that value as fast - like real estate, stocks or art.

Its a hyperbolic argument, which derives from an archtype we see as a result of systemic failures. Again, i'm not negating the systems of healthcare or centralization itself. I'm not reimagining anything, I'm stating observations verbosely "to the room" to lay out my stance. My argument is not "we need better healthcare systems", if "better healthcare systems" means more organizers at the top placing more rules and more beauracratic systems to enforce said rules.
We need more individuals at the low level navigating the intricacies of the situation. We also need the organizers at the top to be receptive of these local needs. If it was the norm we wouldn't be seeing such disparities of violence and homelessness that already exist.

I think a fundamental problem comes from the assumptiom that "the government should take care of it"
You have The State, which organizes a city according to their own framework, optimizing for things they care about while the things they aren't measuring are invisible to them. The State creates grid cities to make it easy for "outsiders" to navigate and intervene, which by design, creates opportunities for bad actors to navigate and extract resources they need.
"Wow, this place is overrun by CRimiNalz!! 😱 What do we need to do? We need to put more restrictions on the city to stop them! But where does it happen? We need to figure that out as well! We need monitors where we see the BAD behavior and stop it before it gets to our neighborhoods! Wow, can't you see?! We have so much work to do, and we need more funding!"
You have The State operating its own framework, imposing rules upon a city that they aren't a part of, and when they observe behavior that goes against their ideals, they impose their framework harder. They're able to do so through leveraging the authority and power they have.
What happens then, to those at these margins? Society itself then assumes that the mentally ill, sick, and violent are the responsibility of The State, failing to recognize them as neighbors. The State also assumes this responsibility, to the point where individuals taking matters into their own hands are punished:
- you have people trying to feed the poor getting fined
- self defense being criminalized
- doctors prohibited from giving advice that contradicts authorative medical knowledge
This doesn't negate the purpose of a healthcare system, or any other centralizing system, but rather points to the fallacy that order is best managed from some top-down outside perspective that fails to recognize the specific lived experiences of the individuals navigating said systems day to day.

If its from Jumble, it might be that there isn't feedback on if pressing submit, so i might not have been sure if it received the note at some point. Might also have been me trying to broadcast an older event. When I go to Nostrudel's relay selector it says gives me "no one should be making that many requests" an then exits the app entirely.

I'm not too sure if that's a productive stance to hold universally - like, how does that line of thinking help you in navigating the world, communicating with others etc. ? But that's just my opinion.
Another thing to think about is the banality of evil - that evil can be done without evil intention. People propagating ideas, procedures, systems for their own interests like career mobility, social norms of their own circles, which have negative consequences beyond what they can see or care about.
Not to discount or eliminate the possibility of evil intention existing, but to circle back - how does your outlook on the world help you move forward in your life and act in a way that's net positive to your community.

From James C. Scott's Seeing Like a State: The state is a hegemonic imposition upon a domain (a forest or city) to make it _legible_ (measurable and understandable by a third party)
My interpretation: the state is a framework created by a group of individuals, in a similar sense that we all have frameworks for how we navigate our world and local communities. The difference, however, is that their framework is essentially applied to a domain that they're not embedded in. Doing so creates a mentality of "us" and "other", whether its the local community, or the state that thinks its locals are "others" that need to be managed and any deviations from its expectations are self reinforcing to apply their own framework more strongly.

You definitely can't filter out all bots. Some users even explicitly care to interact/follow bots. You can, however, filter on credibility. But like irl social credibility, there are different interactions you can work with to establish it. It can be context dependent, but i think even some sort of random rotation between them would be effective. I don't have evidence, for these claims but I think it would be something interesting to play around with, especially in a space where so many are searching for "the best wot algorithm"

Is it not possible to separate the different components of a monolithic wot into multiple ones? Of course, some get outdated but if there are 20 different metrics, often in conflict or deliberately worsened - you'll have something quite difficult to game.

If you make a map as the sole point of truth, it can also be used by anyone to traverse in. Would be an interesting experiment to see how gamable it is to have rotating & contextual maps. The users don't care how objective the wot is anyway, so long as it effectively filters their experience.

Got me there, but my core point still stands. You can have multiple wot algorithms with contradictory metrics. Users can decide which they want at a given time. Nothing beats irl with trust, and then general perceived interaction history as a second. I think it would be interesting to have many users all engaging with rotating differing wot metrics over time. You'll likely still have your 1 or 2 degrees of separation, while the users on the periphery of your network will recycle depending on which metric your using.
