That as well: mainstream social media will now become like main stream news. One sided propaganda to influence the masses whilst they come down on free speech and alternative narratives.
But these companies are also likely to fight amongst themselves for supremacy too. Ie Zuck vs Altman, and even now Elons going after Netflix. Won’t surprise me if someone goes after the social media companies too

Yeah it’s a cool concept. Monetising ib all platforms is difficult; but they only work due to volume. Seems like it will be a while before this gets to that stage
Even so I think it’s more a backup option for now until then; eventually the traditional platforms are going to be overrun with censorship
More will come here. They just need to know it exists, and then figure out how to use it. The relays stuff will be enough to need most people out, as it’s too much effort for them

Yeah I’ve had mixed results on socials. Twitter has been dead for me for years. TikTok and LI really picked up. Even Facebook. Palestine content got mixed reactions. Some videos did really well, others didn’t. Just think that’s how the algos are.
Seems much quieter here, naturally just getting started. Let’s see how it goes.

2 industries which crucially require a lot more focus:
- Media
- AI & Tech
We’ve already seen how they’re buying out social media platforms, and paying influencers millions to shift the narrative their way.
That’s why media is so important. Probably the most important of all in shaping hearts and minds (propaganda and manipulation)
AI and tech is shaping societies (surveillance state, digital prisons).
However these are all just tools.
Tools that can be used by anyone.
You have the power to create your own media empire with things you use (most likely waste time on) every day.
Switch doom scrolling to content creation.
Similarly, AI, software and tech is now more accessible than it’s ever been.
It just requires time, energy and effort to learn and create.
If you’re going to start a side hustle or build a business, but have no idea what to do or where to start, centre it around these 2 industries.
Even if you have started already, whatever your industry is, both of these need to be implemented.
Other than trying to learn how to use AI to create website, N8N for automations…
…I’m now also exploring decentralised social media tech directly:
I’ve now set up on Nostr - this being my first post on here.
Social media was the antidote against traditional media in democratising free speech, and blocking against propaganda manipulation.
They’re now at a stage where they’re way more dangerous than mainstream media - but you’re at the whims of nefarious private organisations and shadow agencies.
The protection against this is a decentralised protocol for social networking and communication like Nostr.
That doesn’t mean forgoing the current social media platforms, as lots of work needs to be done on them.
It does mean building on something where you can’t be banned, restricted or censored because someone decides they don’t like what you say.
I’ve downloaded Primal and Damus on iPhone. Primal appears to have the better user interface thus far.
