Last Notes npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Shouldn't you be blaming the miners for including the txns you don't like? Or, shouldn't you be providing an actual solution that prevents txns you don't like from being possible inside of bitcoin blocks? Arguing policy is pointless, just make the config you like and convince miners to run it. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog She didn't say anything bad. The idea is that ALL transactions can be subjectively judged, and there will always be txns people don't like. We have NO WAY to know how people are using txns, or even how they value those txns. All txns are "NFTs" and none are explicitly more "money" than the others. This orients the conversation correctly, away from policy discussion, toward protocol discussion, forcing opponents to properly propose REAL solutions for data on Bitcoin, instead of handwaving policy drama that fixes nothing. Currently, this is mostly a culture war over default settings in an app. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Eric says to me "Anyone who is serious about sponsoring a Libbitcoin dev is free to contact me or them." So, I think whatever prior effort you made was the wrong angle or through the wrong contacts. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog I more meant funding the libbitcoin project than him specifically, but maybe that is what you meant too? He refused funding to do something like create a funding org or grants for libbitcoin devs? npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog There's nothing worse about Core than it has been for years now. Nothing changed. Luke and Ocean are retarded anyway. Also, why is everyone pretending libbitcoin doesnt exist? You wanna support something meaningful? Fund Eric Voskuil. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Nostr devs have less than zero interest in other solutions, even if they are strictly better. For a cult, being loyal is more important than progress. Note that his question could have been "What are some other interesting protocols that Nostr can learn from? What's new and cool out there?" npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog https://pubky.app/post/gujx6qd8ksydh1makdphd3bxu351d9b8waqka8hfg6q7hnqkxexo/0033YQYXVJ91G npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Pubky is indeed already designed with long-term coordination in mind. Our open Semantic Social Graph method allows anyone to assemble any social graph view they want, and pull tag metadata from the sources. To do p2p voting you need this and more, whereas using Nostr would be extremely problematic because there is no data provenance. You'd lose votes, have censored votes, have no way to seprate real from fake users. Pubky, with PKDNS & SSG fixes that. We are not actively working specifically on voting use cases any time soon though, so someone else would need to work on that if people want it sooner. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Imagine if the first thing builders did with Bitcoin was make the desktop node wallet great. Imagine if the first thing builders did with Lightning was make the desktop node wallet great. We'll never know. https://image.nostr.build/ce243d1b015a5cb3892cb48e4b1a01848db26aed3e17a2b01629ec82e9793a18.png npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog What should a society do if there is a growing class of dumb/ignorant/violent/crazy people? It's not the same thing as managing homeless or economic class wars, even if it may have derived from it. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog The mktg problem you describe appears to simply be that Nostr people are not interested in other technologies, to the point where they will invent reasons to hate them and speak badly of them, while knowing nothing about them at all. Real users of apps don't care what the protocols are called. Real users of protocols don't care what the apps are called. Neither of them genuinely cares if they are the same name. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Why do you think these things, they are not true. Pubky is entirely open source already, and people are already building their own apps. How can you comment on the architecture if you do not know it? The invite codes for the beta are just because our server isn't ready to handle abuse yet and there needs to be a first server right? Please get your information from better people, or get it yourself, it seems like you're learning through podcaster vibes or something? npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Because Pubky is both protocol and an app. Nostr use cases are actually a subset of Pubky's, not the reverse, because Pubky also introduces discovery via PKDNS. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog He'd probably add the nuance that he is totally open to effective ways to mitigate abuse, but that no one has presented them yet. People are only offering fake solutions, narratives, and discontent. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog You are self-sabotaging, which is okay if your aren't qualified yet, but not okay if you are just making excuses. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog The last thing we want is to spend our time reviewing more CVs. We do it because we must. We use BitcoinerJobs because it works. We hire full-time roles because serious products and orgs require an owner for all aspects. There's endless work and training endless people to do our work does not scale. The said, we also have some bounty projects available, but it is all specialized to our stack. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog We have 3 great developer job opportunities open! - Developer Advocate - Rust - React / NextJS Apply here: https://bitcoinerjobs.com/company/synonym npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog https://pubky.app/post/oojdj73roegeh7r5h59s91qpn8g54j9u8j3q8fdguwy9hb1gy9ao/0033XAB9HE5T0 https://image.nostr.build/108fbfc92e739986d28207856586a122ff7170052634e4f74d5cdd912321a591.png npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog My proposal is a bit different. We interacted on Nostr about Pubky differences a month ago, and I've done interviews with him in the past, but he refuses to have me on his show again. Why? Now that he is aligned with Primal, a Nostr app, and has seen some of my arguments, and Pubky tech, he seems to be scared and unwilling to have a candid conversation with me about comparing Pubky to Nostr. He claims to support freedom tech, even if it is better than Nostr, so what is the problem? All of my following feeds are different in every app. 2. All of my activity feeds are different. 3. DM's are an uncertain mess. I am not exaggerating, this UX is terrible. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Counterculture is where "cool" is born. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Me. A person that knows bullshit when he sees it. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog In the end, the most effective way to evaluate Pubky it to be interested in it, and how things like it work, why they differ, etc. While it can be easy to start by contrasting it to Nostr, there is no way for me to do so while also making Nostr lovers feel comfortable and superior (unless I lie, coddle, equivocate, undersell Pubky, etc, etc). Many people would already consider Nostr a success, and for many different reasons, including myself... it just depends on the context. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Most people, including yourself, use more than one social media app. I actively use 5 or so, plus chat apps. It's obtuse to ignore that an aspect of creating things is sharing those things with as many people as possible, wherever it is most appropriate. Nostr people need to know they have been misled, and how Pubky goes above and beyond anything this community has managed to emerge. So, "WhY dO yOu sOcIaLizE iN mOrE tHaN oNe PLaCe JoHn?" is not a sincere perspective, it is vengeful one. The real question is something like "How dare you come into our house and insult our furniture?" Do you see the problem here? The fact that there are people using Nostr does not disprove any of my prior criticisms, does it? If people use a website, does that make them believers of all the tech inside it? This whole idea of protocol allegiance is a huge problem, it's Bitcoin derangement syndrome, where you think it is some sort of offensive taboo to doubt the tech, just because everyone here needs to believe they are "early" and "see the matrix" or something. Just be honest and say "John, I wish you could find a way to make it more comfortable to agree with you, it hurts my ego when you attack nostr" so we can talk about real things, instead of constantly finding passive aggressive ways to cut me down because I can refute your theories. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog i dont really understand what you want, but when you have a sincere question or useful feedback, let me know npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog In yesterday's live call, we publicly shared this diagram for the first time. It shows the architecture of "The Atomic Economy", a system for providing the world's first digital free-market society. This chart provides a clearer view of Synonym's current plan to deliver its (recently updated) Vision & Mission. No other company or FOSS community has ever provided a plan as comprehensive and complete as this, for engineering a free society with technology. This is "Hyperbitcoinization" grown up and delivered as a viable plan, for everyone. We approached this as a civic engineering challenge, not a profit motive, not a control motive, but a working open system that functions from the individual outward. We'll be sharing more about our updated Vision & Mission, and the thinking behind this design, very soon. https://image.nostr.build/18eb4870e9eff360ceee7d14937454fb8af2c88353cc9140e1b7145db6bdb049.png npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Thanks to everyone that joined the Pubky Dev Call today! When apps choose a distinct format and permission their servers, they are not interoperable. When apps choose the same format and open their servers, they are interoperable. This was true before Nostr, and is true for all web app paradigms. Relays are just websites doubling as open web hosts. The issue there is all the good relays are gonna censor you eventually, just like any popular website. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog With Pubky, we didn't invent DHT, and we didn't invent using keys as identities, and we didn't invent social graphs, and we didn't invent the semantic web concept. But we did figure out that combining all of these things the right way totally unlocks the web and free markets. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Nostr is just another app. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Is this your way of asking, or are you still just styling? Just move on, no? Why do you feel the need to talk shit about me? Do you need to undermine my reputation because you are scared I might be right? You attack me because you are too ignorant to discuss the technologies, and instead must discuss me. Pathetic loser behavior, right? You need to create a thread of all the losers I muted for saying retarded things, so you can bathe in the comfort of your digital tribe that worships a fucking protocol. But somewhere in your little brain, you know the truth, that I treated you like you deserved, and that it was a painful reminder of the disappointment you are to yourself, and how you probably repeatedly self-sabotage your life to be small because what you are (and everyone shitting on me is) is a fucking impotent coward. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog This Friday we’re hosting a public Pubky Dev Call! [[[ contact me for meeting link ]]] npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Now do leaderboards for most muted people npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog In the end, all I'm saying is that the government will continue to take our stuff in whichever ways we make it easy for them. Over and over. Every time. Saylor can't hack a system that makes the rules, and his shareholders would be better off holding real bitcoins. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog No i totally wrote a whole essay just for you because i truly thought you would be convinced by it... lol npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog First, I don't think you understand what Bitcoin is for. Second, an example: Building on existing IRS rules that limit interest deductibility for investment-related debt (such as under Section 163(j) of the Internal Revenue Code, which caps business interest deductions at 30% of adjusted taxable income), the government could introduce targeted legislation classifying borrowings for cryptocurrency purchases as "speculative" or "non-business" expenses. This would fully disallow interest deductions for debt-financed Bitcoin treasuries, like those employed by MicroStrategy, where convertible notes and loans fund ongoing acquisitions. Justification could stem from treating crypto as non-income-producing assets until sold, similar to how personal investment interest is limited to net investment income. For companies, this would inflate taxable income by the full interest amount (potentially billions annually for high-debt entities) forcing them to pay taxes at corporate rates (currently 21%, but could rise under proposed hikes) without offsets. Individuals involved, such as executives with performance-tied compensation, might face imputed income taxes if corporate shortfalls lead to restructurings or personal guarantees. This remains legal as an extension of existing deduction limits, enforceable via audits and penalties for misclassification, and could be enacted through budget reconciliation to avoid bipartisan hurdles. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog It isnt bitcoin, it is a security, and they dont need to tax it while sitting, they can specially tax any actual actions. As for the bitcoins, well, they can just take them. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Not really, is that how the description reads to you? npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Pubky is part of a plan to convert the web into a free-market society where everyone interacts on their own terms. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog There have been RGB wallets for a long time. If there's 40k people in their group, it's probably bots and/or anxious token scammers ramping up scams. Link me. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Saylor is playing w fire here, they can tax the fuck out of what he is doing if they want npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog My question is why won't you have me on your show to discuss Pubky vs Nostr? Thanks! https://blossom.primal.net/c7c8f340cc1094a55679dd9dabbb40b40612a670080c2aa73927b05249fe455b.png npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog casuals npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Is there a way to pay with real Lightning instead of zaps? npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog This requires more nuance. The act of receiving an invite code does not deanonymize anything. It associates the two identities, which is something most people would do on purpose. You could also use ANY identity or nostr key to request the Invite code, right? Including throwaways. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Showing a bunch just means one dev will script taking every code he sees. We will add other ways to get the free hosting service later this year though! npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog I think the Pubky design actually offers people new powers, otherwise I'd agree that "good enough" is acceptable. I sincerely want people to be able to accomplish anything together and the Semantic Social Graph method, combined with PKDNS unlocks that. I'm less concerned with the hobbyist pocket social media community use case, and more interested in changing how everyone uses the internet to establish a better economy and society :) npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Um, okay. I was just replying within the context. I don't care about your personal claims, or your money. Do you have a relevant response or refutation of what I said? Also, consider this is social media, and I am writing for the benefit of onlookers, not necessarily to persuade you specifically. I already know teaching Nostr cultists is a waste of time. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Your public key is something you can share with others, yet control. It's portable to any network paradigm in that sense, thus it also transcends IP and DNS. However, that is only interesting if you have a confident discovery method. We use PKDNS by placing your signed records into the largest, oldest, most decentralized network on the planet. You can try and reduce this to "any old name server will do" but every other options falls below PKDNS, even when you reduce it to a basic spectrum. Should people use more than one discovery network? Sure, we all do, right? We use many identities, agents, hosts, networks, etc. But few of those could be interoperable or support user-oriented graphs. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog The problem is that all of the things you are building, regardless of how easy it might be (compared to what, normal web dev?), would be censored at scale because Nostr relies on ICANN/DNS. The relay model is flawed in that it is just a reconstruction of websites to separate the client from the content. But it behaves no differently than having your data on multiple websites. Pubky uses public keys as domain names themselves, where the user controls where they point. This ends up changing everything, even allowing us to choose different data models, and establish truly open and decentralized social graphs and search indexes. Nostr can't do this stuff without faking half of it. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Built a lot of useless hackathon garbage, or things that actually help a lot of people? npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Pubky is a new web that is actually censorship-resistant. The invite code is just to join the beta with free hosting space. It's actually very cool, but Nostr people are scared of it, so they try to hide it. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Thank you for the support! In my experience, Nostr people don't care about non-Nostr things unless you provide some brutal criticism to trigger them. For example: "I've been using Pubky lately, and it is clearly a Nostr-killer, want an invite code?" This creates the right mix of fomo and curiosity. Being part of the in-crowd is very important here, so they won't be open-minded until they feel like this is a sinking ship (which it is, so that's the easy part). npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog NOW HIRING: Developer Advocate We're looking for someone to own the developer experience for Pubky's open source software system. Pubky developers are clearly going to be an insatiable group, each wanting to leverage the superpowers that Pubky unlocks with tools like public-key domains and semantic social graphs. We need great docs, great communications, great hackathons, and so much more. Pubky is not a derivative of Nostr; it is the product independent R&D that began before Nostr existed. If anything, I have may have had more influence on Nostr than it on Pubky... That's all irrelevant of course, there were many key-based systems, many social networks, and many other contortions of the web long before Nostr or Pubky came along. So, unlike Bitcoin, this isn't a case where new tech fixed a huge problem with a novel design, and then spawned a bunch of opportunistic clones. That is nonsense and incompatible with reality. First, Nostr hasn't proven anything beyond the herding capabilities of the Bitcoin cult and influence of Jack Dorsey and, to a lesser degree, Matt Odell. While those things have been impressive, this has only shown us there may be a market for a perpetual hackathon sandbox culture. Nostr has not changed the world. It has not solved problems for anyone at all. The Nostr hacker community has not shipped a killer app, not even a single killer tool for devs, no more growth, no thriving startup industry. There is literally no single significant aspect of Nostr code or the movement that is now improving the lives of many people in a way they did not already have. The use case of Nostr is merely the potential of Nostr, and the cult's belief in that potential. (I know this is all going to seem very harsh, but it is also sober and healthy to consider such perspectives if they ring true...) Second, our work at Synonym is not easy and there is no big payoff. Doing our job well means securing funding for wildly speculative research, providing the world with a bunch of free open source tools, planning and managing multiple teams, demonstrating the plan by actually implementing products and services, all while outsiders are more incentivized to ignorantly detract from your work, than to support it. Then, even if we end up being correct, our best chance at profit is to fairly compete as a generic hosting provider and indexer service. So, I think you'll find my hinges are all intact, but attached to a door you are too scared to open. If you support the ideal of a real free-market society, then at least do some research before dismissing the work of dozens of people across multiple years. Our work is fucking cool and meant to help literally everyone, that means you, so please stop being so ignorant about it. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog I think bridging tech is just fomo. No one uses it over a long term, they just capitulate to using one, or both separately eventually. npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog Mhm https://pubky.app/post/gujx6qd8ksydh1makdphd3bxu351d9b8waqka8hfg6q7hnqkxexo/0033PX0BWZMPG https://blossom.primal.net/67cc3506a47ee4d8926c0e04dad245fe14dbf86e8ad316f06c0baef6f93af66c.png npub13ndpm2hm9hud4azsq5euhf5mv3d05r90wymwxsd7rdn29609hhvqp60svh bitcoinerrorlog There is no such thing as extra features at no cost... "nostr users" are irrelevant to the topic, they get nothing "for free" by using a seed method... Again, this has nothing to do with nostr or pubky. You are just trying to make it seem like there is something magical here and that the magic has something to do with nostr. The magic is in your head.
