Agreed! Especially your view towards social media &, in my experience, the growing toxicity from controlled algorithm and advertisements in demand for our attention + clicks just isn’t worth it. #Nostr changed everything related to social media for me.
Since my complete purge from all centralized social media starting 2020, my QOL has significantly been better. And from what I’ve been told, their platforms have taken a turn for the worse & I just don’t see myself going back. Ever.

Interesting. From what I read, the flexibility in payments seem to be the main attraction for users & a buffer in general processor issues for potential vendors.

It’s like Goodreads but on nostr!) with the help of robo-devs/ai, I wonder if I’d have any luck doing so. First I’ll look into other applications to see if any has been developed.

Marie’s hellthread, in the objective sense, is a stress test for the notification system & other essential functions within their user’s preferred nostr client (Primal, Damus, Nostur, Amethyst, Yakihonne, Coracle, Nostrudel, Gossip, etc).
In the subjective sense of Marie’s hellthread, Marie routinely & thoughtfully (depending on how she feels about you whether you’re on her good or bad side so tread carefully!) selects an astronomical amount of people on Nostr by tagging them.
Thus, igniting a hellthread so impactful (if you get selected!) you’d literally have a hell of time filtering out all of the hellthread notifications from your regular, typical thread alerts.
@nprofile…v20u is quite famous for this, amongst other things, in shaking up the nostr ecosystem and is our beloved Aussie personality nostrich icon (who loves and cares deeply for the wildlife she tells us about - just a golden niblet worth sharing).

That’s fair, but I don’t exactly consider Tor Browser/Mullvad (with Mullvad VPN) to be on the same level as Firefox. Because of their privacy/anonymity features (especially Tor Browser within TAILS) they’re on a league of their own, but I do understand where you’re coming from.
And yes! I’ve been hearing good things about the ladybird browser and cannot wait to see how effective it is in terms of speed, convenience, and privacy.
We need all of the help we can get to strengthen our freedom tech as big tech conglomerates continue to strip away our protection, privacy, and sovereignty with its proprietary technologies & maliciously veiled ToS.

I’m still having second thoughts about LibreWolf.
At first I decided to do away with all things Firefox given the recent ToS announcement, so on my Linux all I have running is the Tor Browser + Mullvad Browser.
LibreWolf was my daily driver & I loved how minimalistic it was out-of-the-box along with its zero-telemetry features. Only thing I didn’t like was either waiting or constantly having to check for the new security updates as it doesn’t have built-in auto-update capabilities.
For now I’m okay with running Mullvad Browser as my daily driver. Though I’ve considered Brave on Linux for continuity across devices using Brave Sync, since it’s what I use for my mobile device atm, but there’s a lot of controversies about it when it comes to privacy & to me seems not worth the headache around it.

I just can’t help but think when comparing the Nostr protocol to Bitcoin, we’re like at the point when it first reached the $1k mark in 2017.
Not everyone thinks highly of Nostr at the moment, but soon it’ll come to a point where social media policies will start to feel suffocating & our voice less meaningful with far less reach impacted by restrictive algorithms. Call it the social debasement, if you will.

I love rabbit hole discussions.
What do y’all recommend when it comes to multi-sig backup with long-term cold storage? Especially when it comes to different locations for each seed backups?
Personally I never thought about using a loaded signing device as a backup.
Would having one loaded signing device (locked with a sophisticated pin) for each part of the multi-sig at a different location (such as a safety deposit box) be considered a good backup option?
That way, instead of having one set of the multiple metal plates stored in a safety deposit box, you’d have a secured hardware device locked with an alphanumeric passcode.
Obviously you’d still have set of metal plates secured some other place to create more redundancies in case of potential compromises.
What do y’all think?

Interesting. Given us a lot to think about. Though I’m curious to see how the consensus of Nostr will respond to this, if any, or not at all
I do see Nostr being THE solution, if governments + social media took away our freedom of speech & expression on the internet.
Or if we lose our right to privacy/encrypted speech, tearing away our ability to be pseudonymous on social media, thus, leading us to be on Nostr to retain some, if not all, of that freedom.
But what if the worst case scenarios never happens?
But we still fall victim to the subtle erosion of our free speech with small changes to the term of service policies implemented under our nose, like how inflation does to the dollar with the money printing machine.
People will still stick to the legacy social media if their whole lives are on those platforms & they’ll make compromises until it gets TOO uncomfortable, hence, Twitter turning into X & people leaving to Bluesky, which could in turn, lead to another corrupted system.
Again, something to think about. Thanks for bringing up the NOSTR UNPOPULAR OPINIONS 🫡
