Thinking about all these 23 years. When I moved to the US, the I lived near the recruiting center. The Iraq war was still going on.

I stopped using a client which I liked in terms of UX and speed. I noticed I check nostr less addictively, now, and enjoy more. Better design and speed increase usability. But def more addictive.

I am a bit surprised to hear telegram was not end-to-end encryption.
I have been using it as plp around me wanted to use it. They say it is safer.
But even if the messages were encrypted, most of the devices are not.
Privacy has become a very difficult thing almost like an illusion.
I do think on-line conversations are like talking loud on the heavy traffic place. Whatever I say in public will be public and could be overheard.
The important thing is the privacy of thoughts. Whatever in my head is private and I am free there.

This is a #handmade paper from Thailand, I bought at a very small local paper store owned by an older couple. They were surprisingly inexpensive.
The owner said the people who have been making this paper will quit as no young generations want to do it. So I bought one of the last packages at the store.
#handmadepaper businesses are very difficult to sustain now. It is a very difficult work that require skills and you need to work with hands and cold water etc. Young people don't want to do, and it is not profitable I imagine.
As a consumer, handmade papers in general became super expensive (esp imported to the US). I have been wondering if there is a good way to support such businesses. They don't need millions of dollar. They need a consistent support.
This is a slowly dying industry as of now.

So, I am not sure. Everything is controversial.
In one opinion, if it is fermented more than 2 years, soy miso gets healthier as the fermentation process break down the toxic parts of soys. But I rarely eat miso fermented that long.
I have been eating soys for my entire life. Thus, used to it.

Oh you are my company!!! I have an old iphone (iphone x). It is still too smart for me ha.
I learned to turn off my phone when it is not necessary. No social media on phone policy except some chat apps. Hence, no nostr app. No email app setup until recently my work required it. Trying to make phone boring.
However, I am on my computer all the time when I am at home. Not easy to off the screen.

I created Square account so that I can create my fiat online store. My phone# and home address appear on the invoice. I called customer service and confirmed that this cannot be changed. The home address can be changed if I use a mailing service.
I don't want to disclose my phone#.

One of the creepy things about instagram was I wound find the accounts I have never followed were added to my "following" list.
These are a type of accounts I might follow such as friends' friends or art accounts that have similar flavor as mine etc.
I thought the AI was mimicking my behavior and taking actions before I actually do.
I eventually left instagram.
Twitter did have some of this, before it turned into X.
When I talked about this, people would say, I followed them without knowing.

"An art work is complete with audience" I heard once. Not sure if this is true but, for an artist, sometimes even one audience except oneself is enough to complete the loop.
Many of us, un-famous artists, may be able to keep their practice because of social media posts and audience. I am grateful for the audience on #nostr. The size, small as it is, does not matter. You guys are closing my loop :)))

I have love/hate of technology and often not a big fun of big tech companies.
Yesterday, I was reading a x account of a young Japanese man who has a progressive illness that has bound him on the bed in his entire life. He posts his thoughts with amazing positivities. He cannot walk or move most of his body. But he cay type or voice recored >type,
He is able to participate in the society while he is at home and we can get to hear about his life. He earns some money through blogging. All that is not possible without tech, plus probably bit tech.
Most of such account holders do not have time to learn about complex tech things. The easy access is a big plus. It is more important for them to have a chance than privacy focused arguments. Often they are competing with their time.
So, there is a good side :)
