The so called “guides” leave a lot to be desired in particular for getting a self hosted hub up.
For someone new to lightning (even though I’m adept at BTC on chain) there has been a lot of confusion on my end especially around sending and receiving channels and funding the channel open via my on-chain BTC.
I had to go to a 3rd party source to watch a tutorial and finally understood how to do it.
While your hub has built in “steps” to finish setup; the UX is not smooth for newbs…it’s smooth for devs and people that have experience with lightning but if the target is adoption of Bitcoin and lightning via Alby…a lot more emphasis to smooth onboarding should be prioritized.
Last point: (it was like 10 days ago when I started this process so forgive me if I’m mistaken) when I first went to create an Alby account to get the browser extension setup, I think y’all asked some KYC questions…I know Primal did, can’t recall if Alby did specifically…if we are trying to build adoption of an anon and private tool like Bitcoin…nix the KYC…even basic thing like email…make it optional and npub/sec only…

Honestly I connect with a few people on X but I’m also connected with them via another community…so it’s more of a mutual thing supporting one another’s content.
That being said, I struggle to grow on X (or spend time there) as everyone seems to be shilling their “expertise” and status of “guru-ness” and I don’t feel like authentic conversation happens.

My 2cents from being on #nostr a week-ish…
Nostr seems to lean towards #bitcoin maximalism…I’m certain this is not entirely true…but certainly a bias towards.
It’s plausible some aren’t even aware of $KAS as “silver” to BTC ‘s “gold” in the #proofofwork #POW worlds.
But you also have to remember #grownostr is a work in progress in and of itself.
Simply put, technology adoption curve.
#kaspa and it’s blockdag compared to #blockchain is relatively new. Picture Bitcoin when it was a couple years old…Kaspa has the benefit of not being the first kid on the block (so to speak) but still a new kid nonetheless #note1hxh…3d0p

Yea so they created the options trading software called Think or Swim which they sold to TD AmeriTrade (which I think Scwab has since bought)
Tom Sosnoff, Woody, and Tom Preston then set out to innovate and revolutionize the financial education landscape around options, trading, risk etc…
So they created TastyLive a free financial think tank (real strategies backed. Y their 30+ years of trading on the floor of the CBOE and research) with ~8 hours of content a day.

Many states in the USA offer “scholarships” to students with disabilities (could be as minor as dyslexia for example)
And/or “school choice” / “homeschool” funding.
For example our son has a “unique abilities” scholarship and we homeschool which gives us $X per year to spend on educational items…board games are considered educational.
So you might design a campaign reaching out to those parents in each state, informing them of your product

As a family we are very much into strategy games.
They tend to be card based (but not deck builders).
Some of them like Skyjo are just fun and while there is the illusion of strategy, it’s just randomness. That is a nice palette cleanser type of game.
Then there are some trick taking card games like the ones from Grandpa Beck’s (Skull King, Cover Your Assets)
Sushi Go is another one we like.
We do play Ticket to Ride but we all know the optimal strategy for it so it just becomes a race to the finish…
That’s why I think we like Splendor so much…the goal is the same and the pathways are the same to reach the goal, but it’s very dynamic strategy wise so it’s constantly evolving during game play

So DM’s for one… Primal and Damus seem to be the most accurate but when I tried 0xChat and YakiHonne DM’s started not relaying (Primal and Damus were missing messages)
Across Primal, Damus, and YakiHonne not all note and reply notifications are consistent and zaps notifications either.
Lastly sometimes if I want to tag someone they pull up in one app but not another…
So I’m having to bounce between 3 apps to “catch it all”

Other than that it is UX issues and the benefit of having 2 apps to easily grab a note id or npub to copy paste into a note or reply I’m drafting on the first app…
But I’d love for the fragmentation to go away. That’s my biggest frustration (hurdle) at this point

Also you connected a dot for me that it’s the relays which do the heavy lifting.
Therefore, the only reason I can think of that different apps would display different data (ie npub, notes, DM’s, zap records…)
Is because a particular node doesn’t support a particular NIP? (Although the ones I just mentioned seem basic)
If all (3 of) my apps have the same relays…why is my experience fragmented?

Especially with no algo; we should just write what’s on our hearts and minds.
That’s what I try to do. I will be in the oddest of places (often driving…so guess that isn’t that odd 🤷‍♂️)
And I will have thoughts and connect ideas…
I want to share them…so I do!

This is one of the reasons when I trade (regardless of asset) I limit single losses to ~5% per trade (there is nuance in that for sure to be considered…that’s why it’s approximate)
Also I try to set portfolio loss on a given day / string of swing trades to max ~30% (sometimes this is reflected in margin utilization and other time by SL or capital deployed)
The key is to proactively capture wins! Most people want to maximize their returns. This is where the volatility can kill your account.
Depending on what asset I’m trading and the strategy deployed, I usually scale out at 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3 Risk Reward Ratio. If I’m doing Options, I’m usually in the “close or manage the trade at 50% max profit” camp.

I basically went through a few people/brands I follow on Nostr to see their relay list (using Damus) and there seemed to be a core 8-10 so I did those plus a few others that I saw several times but not everyone had.

Wealth, generational or otherwise, doesn’t eliminate bills; or more specifically the need to transact for stuff and things and experiences…
It makes it a non-issue to compensate for the value received.
But unless someone is 100% self-dependent for all aspects of their life (ie home steader perhaps even Amish) they will still need to transact with others.
Now…if someone were traditional Amish and 100% self-dependent, meaning they don’t need to pay for anything…they wouldn’t need #bitcoin either than…plus traditional Amish don’t use electricity so they definitely aren’t the target audience for #BTC.
Hence my original statement, “it depends”.
I applaud your absolutism, but societally speaking we aren’t “there yet”.
And agains, doesn’t mean I disagree with you. Simply that even the ultra wealthy buy products and services.
So unless they are 100% solar or some other renewable energy source…they still need some fiat “today” to transact.
But yes, in the ideal world, we would spend our Bitcoin not sell it.

In theory yes.
In practice, people still can’t pay for utilities with BTC (unless they use a 3rd party like Spritz Finance)
Can’t put gas in the car with sats (yet).
So until the tipping point; it has to be a both/and world.
Doesn’t me you and I can’t agree to only transact in sats…
But most of the world is driving cars that require inputs via fiat (whether that is to purchase it or operate it)
One step at a time man! We will get there!

Trade to create cash flow
Parlay cash flow into accumulating assets
Example of where I (and most) can improve patience in this domain…
When a trade or investment is going against you; be patient and let time and randomness do it’s thing for you!
PS have a trade plan and follow it, Stop Loss and Take Profit are your friends.
Right now my portfolio doesn’t look as green as I’d like. But the data does not suggest that I change my assumption. So I stick to the plan.

Are Coracle.social and Nostrudel.ninja web only or do they have mobile apps too?
I like the "Twitter / X feel" of Primal on desktop...but not in love with their mobile ios apps.
So trying to find either a "one stop shop" where I'm using the same app across devices + desktop (web)
Or an iOS app that is close to Primal desktop.
I started with Damus on mobile but there are Primal UI and thus UX aspects I prefer over Damus...mainly with the discovery/connecting to interest and "tribe" data provided, etc.
Damus you fly blind and guess a lot...Primal gives you a foundation to jump off of and fly from there...

I prefer self custody.
Have a cold wallet for my BTC and use it with MetaMask as 2FA.
That’s why Mutiny sounded great.
Strike is custodial I think (their site isn’t mobile friendly so I’ll have to look tomorrow when I’m at a computer)
If Zeus is self-custody I’ll do that…

Because Nostr is decentralized, it’s entirely possible, more like actually probable that if you and I are not running the same relays…
We wouldn’t know each other existed? Could see each other’s posts?
If that’s correct, then that is one benefit to a centralized solution a la X but we give up a lot of control when we go centralized
(I guess I’m just trying to understand why I would choose relay A vs relay B if they contain the same data)

I bought around $3 about three years ago and sold it.

A little bit…
The hardest (confusing) part for me is that I wasn’t seeing any interactions unless I manually clicked into my individual posts.
Got that fixed by the First Aid feature of the Damus app
Next piece was just understanding the verification / vanity URL vs the public key as means of sharing my profile with people.
Working on the last bit now, Lightenting (not in a position to create a wallet securely until tomorrow)
