It's the very very beginning of it. Basically job losses, mostly in the US, in certain places like Florida, mortgage delinquencies slowly increasing, will accelerate with rates lowering because of more houses in the market, because a certain part of population will move.
It's the beginning of it. 1 year from now it's going to be obvious, in the US. In 2 years it's going to be obvious in Europe.
In my view as always, might be completely wrong.

Gold will become the new real estate in the next 10 years. An asset that was chosen (half intentionally, half because of incompetence) by the elites to be the store of value. And then it'll collapse like real estate did or is going to (in gold/Bitcoin terms, maybe not in fiat terms because of printing).
Gold is a chosen asset. Specifically at the Central Bank level. Who would in the digital age, internet age, choose a dead rock to be the best real money? Only the elites, mostly older people, that think they control everything, including the money.
And then gold will go through the same path, inevitably. They really don't think that in the internet/digital/information age, there will be gold scandals that will completely destroy gold's almost completely fake & centralized markets?
The Chinese will devalue gold in the West with their better system. Then the West will understand that Bitcoin is the way.
Then the Chinese also collapse because of the inevitable scandal. That might take a while.

Hell yeah, this is what needs to be done. The world is changing, this is very interesting stuff.
Super refreshing to actually see LGB (lesbian, gay, bisexuals) people talk about the absurdity of pronouns, puberty blockers, etc, etc.
You see how political movements are used? The most intolerant/radical group always wins, if the moderates let them.
I read somewhere that 70% of the LGB were not onboard with this crazy stuff being pushed.

It's not about who is the progressive radical or not. Bitcoin is going to work for everyone in the end. It's just about understanding all sides.
It's going to work for everyone. This kind of fake cultural wars have no place in our layer of the world. We can talk uncensorably and trade uncensorably forever. What does this mean?
This means that the connection between us is what matters. So what's the connection between us? That's the question that we should be really asking and talking about.
What I'm saying is, thinking that we're separate is the problem, that's the mistake. There's no separation between anyone. We can learn from all sides.
This idea of good sides or bad sides is wrong. I never said a side was good or bad. It was a context for the sake of a discussion. The goal of a discussion is to learn something, not "win" the discussion. The real win of a discussion is when people learn something new they haven't thought about.

Absolutely. I think the cool thing that can happen here are long-form out of the box conversations between all kinds of people. You know, really high resolution conversations that offend everybody on the left and right.
Like for example being pro-UBI, Bitcoin, Swiss democracy, etc. Stuff that is very political and requires long form, civil, uncensorable communication. Overcoming the left and right barriers, norms, current ideas, etc. Really building/discussing ideas.
I really like that kind of content but I don't see much (any) of it here. It would be really cool to have that kind of debate/conversation here. That debate happens on Reddit currently. It would be really cool if it started happening here. I think this is how we bring Reddit here too eventually.
This is what interests me at least, high resolution conversations with good spirited people that really want to think and build something together.

Okay, and addendum/elaboration to what I posted. It’s true that technically speaking, miners ultimately decide what gets written to the blockchain — and as long as a transaction fits Bitcoin’s consensus rules (valid digital signatures, no double spends, within block weight limits, respecting UTXO ownership, etc.) — then it will always be valid and can always be mined.
But what I was really referring to is something different: the monetary-conservative side of the community can make certain use cases harder. They can’t kill them at the consensus level, but they can make them less simple, less visible, less culturally accepted, and less available. This applies especially to things like NFTs, image inscriptions, Ordinals, or more complex DeFi-style smart contract activity inside Bitcoin.
That’s a fair enough position to take. Most people don’t want every Bitcoin wallet to come bloated with NFT or DeFi functionality. By tightening relay policy, wallet standards, and mempool acceptance, conservatives enforce a kind of soft cultural power — and it’s already working. The majority of the Bitcoin ecosystem doesn’t support NFT/DeFi functionality, and because of that, products, apps, exchanges, and wallets don’t rush to support it either.
In practice, this means that even though these transactions remain technically possible, the market decides against them. Users face higher friction, fewer wallets, and less exchange integration. Economically, that pushes demand away from those use cases, which is exactly how cultural consensus works in a market system.
So my criticism of the “progressive” side is this: why dismiss the monetary argument so completely? Luke’s position (and the position of many others) isn’t irrational — it’s simply saying Bitcoin should stay money-focused, and it’s fair to be skeptical of NFT/inscription-like use cases. They can’t change Bitcoin’s technical foundation, but culture matters. And in markets, culture can be decisive.
This is what I don’t understand: the progressive side often argues as if user preference and culture don’t matter. But in product management — and in Bitcoin’s evolution — they matter enormously. At the end of the day, if people don’t want NFT/DeFi functionality in their money, that market preference will win out.

For example, Brazilians. Brazilians would sell agriculture products to China, get paid in gold Yuan. The Chinese guarantee with their super high tech transparent system that it's backed 1 to 1. Now, how much of it will a Brazilian farmer actually store as Yuan, and how much do they actually trade for better money (like Bitcoin)?
Because these things will happen. Individuals are not States. These State elites think they can decide what's money just per se. We've been through that. That's only possible until there's better money created. Better money has been created.
And this is clearly what I think the US move will be. I mean, do they think the US simply disappears from the map? We can say many bad things about Americans, one thing we can't say is that they aren't smart...

I know I am voluntaryist, for me the most voluntaryist way is always the best. In my view the very wealthy in the right conditions will definitely want to contribute. If the ideas are good, and they offer legacy, productivity, power maintenance, everybody will want to come in.
I think the real problem with taxation for most people is that it's money spent in the most ridiculous of things. I fully agree!

Eheh, thanks for the muppet talk! :) Keep them coming please! It gets lonely having a less narrow view on Nostr. Keep the "contrarian" views coming, I'll be here for them always for sure.
For me I think there are good points made by all philosophies and all sides, always. Ayn Rand including of course. Loved the books, movies, philosophy, etc. What really annoys me is when people get stuck to a single and narrow worldview. That's just a cult.
We're supposed to learn a bit from all sides, that's what a well rounded human being really is. With principles but still open. Balanced, etc, etc.
But we're heading there I think! I think we're witnessing the beginning renaissance of thinkers in my view honestly. Which is incredible exciting to be honest :)
This is due to the tech we have. We finally have the possibility for real neutrality of money and communication. That will attract well rounded thinkers that will really change the game. People are just shy at first, but the system will promote such thinkers. So keep it coming!

- Promote Bitcoin as the store of value to real estate capital, facilitating the real estate demonetization that needs to happen globally for a better power of purchase for everyone
In other words, Bitcoiners need to be seen as the asset that helped houses become cheaper. And I think that's going to happen inevitably.

What violency is he advocating for? He's just arguing for more open UBI like redistribution models and that the wealthy will want more of that. Which they already do. The really wealthy people don't think in ideology, they think in risk analysis.
And also one doesn't know the actual numbers is advocating for, this would target the very wealthy.
The thing is, there's a real risk that socialism comes back.
What Dr. Jeff is arguing for is a middle way, pragmatic and innovative solution to avoid precisely that.
The State already exists, the state already forces you to pay taxes, we don't need to pretend as if that wasn't the case.

Right on, I absolutely agree with this kind of position.
I too believe this kind of direction is going to be inevitable all over the world. There's going to be UBI like redistribution, the States will need become more efficient and focus on that UBI like redistribution mechanisms mostly, and the wealthy in time will more openly contribute because they see it as the win-win-win, they'll realize it's the best way to maintain and expand their position (because UBI is the win-win-win, etc).

People here disagree with it because this is a very specific and niche group that sees things from a more ideological perspective than a purely economic perspective, which I believe @nprofile…nx5t is very good at (strong macro analysis, plenty of numbers, etc, etc).
Because if one looks at the economic numbers and historical parallels, this kind of model ends in self-destruction. The numbers simply don't fit. The numbers don't work. This system can't work like this. Forget about ideology, the current economic model simply doesn't work.
And this is incredibly bad for capitalism. Because you can't have capitalism without capital. If capital sits only at the top it's feudalism, not capitalism.
I'm actually writing/working in this direction. I think UBI is not only perfectly compatible but fundamental for a more capitalist future. I get what you mean, but what's really happening is that in reality yes we can disagree on it.
I think you know exactly what I mean. We can and a lot of people are disagreeing on it with the power of Bitcoin Node as votes, the Satoshi architecture devised for vetoing/filtering mining consensus.
This is the only tool the plebs culturally have to affect that "consensus".
And the plebs are voicing their opinions saying they want to keep Bitcoin as monetary only as possible.
I fully agree with that sentiment. It's a fundamental position to have. Bitcoin is money and should be treated as money only. There's a community behind Bitcoin, there's an ethos behind it. It's not just technology. It's people with balls and ideals that they're willing to die for. That's what Bitcoin really is. That technical "consensus" is an illusion.
Nodes exist and people are waking up to their power. It was inevitable. Bitcoin is the people and it should always be the people.

I know everybody wants their best for Bitcoin but I do think we have to be careful and think things carefully.
Everything can change consensus, all the time. Consensus is not a static thing, it's an ever changing thing, that depends on every single opinion and points, including yours and mine. Consensus is never static, it's always changing. Everything matters, everything is delicate.
I honestly just see the whole patterns of the old left vs right. "This doesn't change anything", "everything is fine", "it's all good".
Some things are fine others are not. We need to be extremely careful and specific. This is probably the most important tool of humanity. At least from my perspective.
I honestly think the enemy more and more is going to be devs coming from crypto projects with their capital, blockchain/crypto skills and free time, looking at "expand Bitcoin uses" technical crowd.
I would honestly and with kindness say: find something better to spend your time on. Move to AI, plenty of technical stuff to do there. Learn a new skill. Volunteer. Stray cats for example, I'm sure there's stray cats in your area. Bitcoin adoption for example. Rural living, growing food, etc. Learn something outside technical skills. People need to learn more stuff.
This is not a post for you personally, it's for the kind of person I'm describing. Bitcoin needs to be treated very conservately and it's important to open our minds when it comes to what really is useful for the world.

From what I understood:
Bitcoin Knots is the conservative side, they want to do their best at keeping to Bitcoin exactly as it has been, a monetary network, by keeping the OP_RETURN, keeping validation power on the node, thus keeping the same institutional risk.
Bitcoin Core is the experimental side and want to change the nature of Bitcoin, removing the Bitcoin OP_RETURN and thus putting all the validation power on the miners. Some of the motivation for this is to allow more stuff to be written on the blockchain, including images, etc. Citrea it seems is one of the companies/projects that needs this. So there's also money behind this.
Bitcoin Core v30 can definitely change Bitcoin's nature and risk profile, and allow for institutional and legal attack vectors, like for example if people use pornographic or illegal images, which has happened before in a Bitcoin SV fork.
For me it's Bitcoin Knots for me all the way, everyday. If it ain't broken don't fix it. It's working perfectly, go find something else to fix.

Everybody gets UBI, that's the U, Universal part of the UBI. Universal means unconditional, everyone gets it, regardless of anything. No conditions. That's the premise already.
On the opposite, this is the Malthusian paradise. You have to either suck the balls of the State OR the rich. UBI is, like Bitcoin, a way to not need to suck the balls of anyone and the only way to truly remove the spirit of destructive revolution that left will ALWAYS have.

Yes. But the left will never accept that. They'll burn the world down before that happens. This is why I think the way is to just convert government into a UBI. It's the same as ending taxes for poor and middle class people. It's even better actually.

I honestly think you're absolutely right. It's exactly like a religion.
I've literally heard from people that Trump defunding these kinds of surgeries is the same as "killing people".
It's absolutely insane but I really heard this from a person. And talking about people that apart from that would be considered normal and rational. Normal and smart people.
Another thing I understood is that it's a religion based on fear. As if defunding these things is always the first step to genocide. "It all starts by defunding things, next thing you know it they're sending us to the gas chambers." It's like, what are you talking about?
This was another thing I found interesting, the paranoia. Something I don't truly understand. As if there was this energy against LGBTQ people in the West, a hate towards them. Nobody cares, at least from my perspective. And at least for now, because if these people truly start committing acts of violence I can believe things would change.

What I'm more mindblown about is the reactions to Charlie Kirk's death. The reactions.
I've seen people that I speak often with, that seem like normal people, be happy about this.
A run of the mill moderate Christian conservative, into free-market, etc. Absolutely nothing special about this guy. Probably half of America is like this.
And he's Hitler and deserved to die? Why, because someone told you so?
I'm cutting off some people from my life. I want to surround myself with real people with actual values.

Absolutely understand. It's just that I think that's not god per se. You just need good philosophy. Buddhism doesn't have god but still it has very good moral philosophy, like the 5 Precepts, etc.

I was just thinking. Nostr might be really small and an echo chamber of Bitcoiners. But you know what, at least it feels human.

There's a lot of confusion right now.
Here's what I think will always work in all scenarios:
1. Move to a rural place, town, region, etc. Ideally a region suffering from rural depopulation.
That's the first step to sovereignty and a better future. Rural depopulation is happening **everywhere** in the world and it won't stop. I think that's the biggest opportunity for peace we have. Forget about cities, cities are battlegrounds, places of conflict.
And it's from these places that new systems, communities and countries will be born.
There's quiet a lot of stuff we can control. We should focus on that.

Well I think the idea or what it seems to me is that these are the seeds of a movement, group of people that want to find ways to limit that amount of spam, while remaining open of course.
The way I see it just conservatism vs progressivism applied to Bitcoin. These conservatives will want to find ways to limit that. Solutions and middle ground will be found.
I think it's very healthy because Bitcoin was clearly moving too much to be too open. If one becomes too open the brains fall out and one becomes useless.
This is just how I see it more from the outside. I'm not deep into the Bitcoin development weeds. But I do think solutions and middle ground will be found, and no soft fork or anything like that will be necessary.

In my view we just need to keep Bitcoin as it is now. Bitcoin + Lightning Network. Plus all the other tech that works in the current framework, Liquid Network, etc.
That's it. Done, throw the keys away. It's working, it's scaling at an institutional level, globally. Don't fix what is not broken. Keep calm and carry on.
We don't need Citrea, BitVM, ordinals, EVMs, zero proof, or whatever new functionality that doesn't exist right now today.
That can be done everywhere else but in Bitcoin.
Now the problem is these technical guys, that think that all the problems are technical, instead of actual focusing on real world problems, are focused on solving a problem that doesn't exist.

"Lightning is purely about payments — off-chain channels using Bitcoin scripts, nothing more.
Citrea is a zk-rollup with its own execution environment. It can do payments, but its design is much broader: it enables smart contracts, dApps, NFTs, DeFi — basically Ethereum-like functionality anchored to Bitcoin. That’s way beyond Lightning.

This is what's being said here, nothing else. This is pure conservatism, there's nothing new being argued here. This is a statement to keep and focus on Bitcoin as a monetary network only.
No data, no images, no nothing, just monetary data, as neutral and specific as possible. Like it has been working until now. Focus on has been working until now and try to keep like that as much as possible. It's in essence a form of monetary conservatism too.

I agree that UBI needs to replace socialism. But I also think it's naive to deny what motivates socialism. Wealth is too concentrated at the top. Even Milei will fail because the current model has failed.
I think Milei's only solution is going to be UBI for example (https://citizenlocke.substack.com/p/why-mileis-only-solution-will-be).
Something like UBI, Swiss democracy (direct democracy), Bitcoin. This stuff can work for everyone, left and right, rich and poor.
I believe this is the kind of systems that will make the nation state better in the long term.

Regarding the libertarian bit. I'm also really tired of that whole charade.
Pretending that we can "end the State" and so not being fully morally here because "the State created all these problems", and "if wE dInD't HaVe tHe sTaTe tHis wOuLdN't hApPen!", "I'm right your wrong, always", kind of thing.
It's exactly the same idealism that ran in Communists and Anarchists of the early 1900.
The state is here to stay wether people want it or not. Use it. Take control of it. The best we can.
When I talk about political parties, Swiss democracy, UBI, all of this is crazy and completely ignored. As if Bitcoin would change anything about human nature or the nature of current nation state power structures.
We're heading to a time where people like Hitler will begin to be appealing to the masses, while Bitcoiners are saying to "to the moon!".
No amount of Bitcoin can save us from human nature. The system/wealth is too concentrated at the top, the masses are starving for a better model, there needs to be a system that can become better for the bottom 90% (I think it's UBI).
Otherwise nobody will have peace. This kind of stuff is just the beginning.

I also don't identify with libertarianism (only) anymore for many reasons. I never really did completely. Words and concepts are limited. We need to keep inventing new ones.

If you monetize hard assets like gold and Bitcoin, then those grow MUCH faster than your nominal debt in dollars (35T). You have them (gold and Bitcoin) in your balance sheet and now they're worth 50T, that pays your debt and gives plenty of free money for other things.
This is what's going to happen. Gold and Bitcoin explode (10x) in the next 5 years. Real estate I think loses massively against them. That's the new world in my view.

Yes, that's always what governments do. They called it Financial Repression in the 1940s. Everybody does the same thing since the Central Banks were invented, including Weimar Germany. Inflate the debt away with a soft or hard reset, i.e start "backing" your currency with hard assets, land, gold, oil reserves, Bitcoin, etc, launch a new currency or just monetize those assets by creating mechanisms that allow governments to use it as collateral somehow to borrow money, stuff like this, without creating a new currency.
There's many ways to do this, with a new or just the same currency, soft or hard links.
Basically governments monetize the asset part of their balance sheets, i.e land, gold, bitcoin, oil reserves, etc, etc, and then they do a soft or hard link between that and their fiat currency.
This time it's definitely going to be gold and Bitcoin because it's the easiest way to do it because Bitcoin is a neutral reserve system, very easy to be audited globally, etc. It's just the perfect collateral.

What's completely missing is that the US would create the most transparent Bitcoin and gold system, that would allow people to redeem or to somehow link, might be just trust initially, to these assets.
This is just some sort of poor Russian propaganda to make the US look bad, when it's actually the best thing they could do right now, moving to Bitcoin and gold, and is exactly what the Russia/China wants to do.

Engel's story is very interesting. I highly empathise with his perspective and I think it's a part of history that needs more resolution. And I really never thought I would to be completely honest.
We're living at a time where there's a complete polarization or detachment from history as if there's nothing to learn. As if some people are evil and others are good, period.
And it's all emotional. For many years I completely ignored a lot of ideas and people just because there was a big movement in a different direction.
