We contacted data providers and quickly obtained a sample. In concrete terms, these are geolocation “pings.” The people whose positions are pinged are you and me. It comes from any app that's a little nosy: a newspaper, LeBonCoin, or the holy grail, a dating or weather app that asks for your geolocation continuously.
I was shocked to see that even someone like me, at my modest level (I'm not the NSA), can very easily access this kind of information.
On paper, this data is GDPR compliant and legal because it is sold as “anonymized.” But that's a joke: in reality, it's pseudonymized.
With this data, I can track a unique identifier throughout an entire day, or even weeks:
• If I see where the dot sleeps at night ➡ I know where you live.
• If I see where the dot parks during the day ➡ I know where you work.
• If I have your home and work addresses ➡ I know who you are.
I can see your weekend trips, the shops you visit, the restaurants you go to. Depending on the GPS accuracy, I can even see which room of the house you are in (bedroom, living room, etc.). If I had bad intentions, I could spy on lots of people, even though I am a nobody.
What you need to understand is that this isn't just for spies. It's available on the market.
Even without GPS, your cell phone leaves traces at every tower you connect to (mobile networks). So you ping dozens of towers on every trip.
I feel like I've set a huge chain of events in motion. What freaks me out isn't so much that the data exists, but that I, by taking a routine and legal commercial step, can access a mass surveillance tool.
If I can do this with a simple sample, imagine what foreign intelligence services or malicious individuals could do with real budgets.
We're screwed.

⚡️🚨🔎 NEW - When the DOJ released the Epstein files, no one expected to see Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies mentioned.
And yet, between the lines, repeated references to projects, protocols, and key players in the ecosystem paint a picture of Jeffrey Epstein's early, discreet, and methodical involvement in crypto, long before it exploded in the media.
The documents reveal that Jeffrey Epstein was one of Coinbase's earliest investors. According to several email exchanges, he reportedly injected $3 million in 2014, at a time when the company was valued at around $400 million.
Co-founder Fred Ehrsam was personally informed of this investment. In 2018, Epstein reportedly sold about half of his stake to the Blockchain Capital fund. Today, Coinbase has a valuation of nearly $44 billion.
The files also show repeated exchanges between Epstein and Brock Pierce, co-founder of Tether. The discussions cover both cryptocurrency and much more sensitive topics, with all of this correspondence taking place after Epstein's conviction in 2008.
Epstein also appears as an investor in Blockstream, the company founded by Adam Back, a historic figure in the cypherpunk movement.
In 2014, Epstein exchanged messages with Peter Thiel about Bitcoin's narrative and ideological positioning, at a time when Bitcoin was trading at around $691.
The documents also contain particularly harsh private comments about Michael Saylor, whom Epstein describes as a "creep" with "no personality, kind of like a zombie on drugs." Saylor nevertheless reportedly paid $25,000 for a spring gala mentioned in the exchanges.
Finally, the name of Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, does appear in the files, but no direct link or correspondence has been established.

And above all... I did something that few people are capable of doing:

The trust you earn when you inform, when you take hits, when you come back the next day, and the day after that…
Because yes, I took some hits when I started here. At first, I wasn't anyone's friend. I was a nuisance to some, an extra guy, and it bothered them to see someone come in and want to change the dynamic of Nostr. Some people really didn't like the fact that I was trying to make it a real substitute for centralized social networks, a place where someone could be “Nostr only” without ever feeling like they were missing out on content, pace, information, or diversity. It was my idea, and I followed through with it.
It hurt some egos, it sparked criticism, sometimes even contempt. But in the end, I don't give a damn: I'm still here. And I'm better than yesterday.
And if tomorrow everything stops, no one can take away what I have built here.
Because it's not an account.
It's a foundation.
