Calling D66 "centrist" misses the whole point. D66 is centrist only by being neither leftist or traditionally conservative right - they are progressive, social liberals. Thanks to them Netherlands has gay marriages, supermarkets open late at night and on Sundays, and the right to end of life.
So the real point is that the Dutch choose "woke" over populist hate mongers.
