This release is light, private, and full of subtle depth. Just like steamed fish in banana leaf, it wraps flavor in a delicate layer of protection. With Version 0.9.0, Yumyume introduces private bookmarking, giving you more control over what you share and what you keep just for yourself.

You can now choose whether a bookmark is public or private.
Private bookmarks are encrypted using NIP-44, so only you can read them.

Release 0.8.0 – Shakshuka with Feta & Fresh Herbs is out!
This release is warm, social, and full of interaction. Just like sharing a pan of shakshuka with friends. Spiced tomatoes, gently cooked eggs, topped with creamy feta and herbs. A dish that brings people together. Version 0.8.0 does the same with social features, following, commenting, and re-bookmarking now on the table.
🌟 What’s New?
✔️ Re-bookmark Someone Else’s Bookmark
You can now click the bookmark icon on an existing bookmark to save it as your own. The new bookmark will include a reference to the original profile that shared it.
✔️ Filter by People You Follow
When you're signed in, the homepage will now default to showing bookmarks from profiles you follow. You can still switch back to the global feed at any time.
✔️ Follow and Unfollow Profiles
You can now follow or unfollow someone directly from their profile.
This works within the Nostr ecosystem, so your connections go beyond Yumyume itself.
✔️ Commenting is Live
You can now add comments to bookmarks. This is the start of more interactive bookmarking.
🛠️ Fixes and Improvements
- The bookmarklet now prevents bookmarking something you already saved
- It also uses OpenGraph title and description when available, with a fallback to HTML title and meta description
- The tag cloud now reflects the last 7 days of bookmarks instead of 30 days to improve responsiveness. We're exploring ways to bring back 30 days without slowing things down

This release took a little longer to simmer, but for good reason. While @nprofile…z409 was celebrating Eid with his favorite beef curry and sweet shemai, @nprofile…mrdl was enjoying Easter (and possibly a bit too much chocolate, his guilty pleasure). Meanwhile, we were diving into @nprofile…xh4c proposed NIP for social bookmarking. We looked into it together with @nprofile…ks8l (Pinja) and @nprofile…92k6 (CCNS) to better understand where things are heading.

✔ 📚 Migration to NIP-B0 with Kind 39701
We now store bookmarks using event kind 39701, based on the NIP-B0 proposal.
The global feed prioritizes displaying kind 39701, with a fallback to kind 39700.
✍️ When you edit a bookmark originally posted with kind 39700, it is automatically converted to kind 39701 for consistency.
✔ 🏠 Unified Homepage: Feed, Tags & Bookmarking in One Place
The global feed, popular tags, and bookmark creation are now all part of the homepage, making Yumyume more accessible than ever.

Yumyume is growing, and thanks to valuable input by first day users such as @nprofile…xlp9 we’re moving beyond the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) stage! Version 0.3.0 brings an important upgrade to our social bookmarking system, aligning with the broader ecosystem while improving usability and transparency.
🌟 What’s New?
✔ Migration to Kind 39700 – Instead of kind 30003, we now use kind 39700, the same format as @nprofile…ks8l Pinja.in social bookmarks. This means each bookmark is now signed individually, rather than being stored in a set.
✔ Timestamps in the Global Feed – You can now see when a bookmark was created or last updated in the global feed.
✔ Improved Profile Navigation – Clicking a profile in the global feed now shows the user's individual social bookmarks instead of redirecting to njump.
Manual Migration for Early Users! If you saved bookmarks in the MVP version, you’ll need to migrate them manually. You can still access the old client at https://dc399e45.yumyume.pages.dev/signin and copy/paste to the updated client.

@nprofile…z409 added a zesty twist to Smoked Salmon & Dill Cream on Blini with performance improvements and optimizations! Version 0.2.1 brings a lighter logo, smarter relay handling, and an improved data-fetching experience.
🔧 What’s Improved?
✔ Logo Optimization – Now 800 bytes smaller, keeping Yumyume lightweight and efficient.
✔ Smarter Relay Connections – If the tab is inactive for 5 minutes, the connection automatically closes and restarts when you return—saving resources while keeping things seamless.
✔ Faster Data Fetching – We've replaced nostr-tools with our own Vanilla JS implementation, ensuring real-time updates from relays without extra fetch requests—data arrives instantly!
🔜 What’s Next?
We’re preparing to migrate to NIP-01 and kind 39700, as @nprofile…ks8l integrated it into Pinja https://www.pinja.in/ . We were positively surprised to discover that Sep and we both started working on social bookmarking around the same time—this means there are multiple clients to choose from for social bookmarking with Nostr 🎉
🚨 Important: Since this migration will require users to manually transfer their bookmarks, we recommend not adding too many new bookmarks in Yumyume MVP just yet. We will provide a link to the old client with the existing kind, so our first users can copy/paste their bookmarks to the new version. More details will follow soon!

We decided to use tasty dishes for our release names
So Yumyume serves software releases like a fine dining experience! 🍽️
Major versions = Full courses (Starter, Soup, Main, Dessert...)
Minor versions = Different dishes in that course (e.g., "Truffle Foam with Parmesan Crisp" vs. "Smoked Salmon on Blini")
Patch versions = Ingredient refinements (e.g., "& Aged Gruyère Infusion" for stability improvements)
Each update brings a tastier, more refined experience.
And here are your first patches.
Our Truffle Foam with Parmesan Crisp just got a refined twist! In Version 0.1.1, we’ve added Aged Gruyère, bringing depth and stability to Yumyume. This update fixes an issue where relays opened an unlimited number of connections, making things slow and unstable. We've also restructured the codebase, splitting HTML, CSS, and JavaScript into separate files to prevent layout issues and prepare for more features in future releases.
