Now that it's official that ChromeOS will cease to exist and the ChromeOS experience will be based on Android instead of Linux, and given that Android's development just became private (still open source though), the expectation is that Samsung will merge their Dex work into Android Desktop in a similar way they did between Google Watch and Samsung Watch over the past 3 years. Android 16 already has some Chrome OS features, including a desktop window manager. But it is quite early/buggy yet.
This means you will see Android laptops in the future and might see and Amethyst Desktop at some point.
