The issue is that if clients are doing something with a field, it should be listed and upgraded on the NIP.
There are over 30 fields or so that I have seen on Kind 0s that are not listed there. And it is fine. I am not sure what the extra array does that the current field list wouldn't do.

If you get used to posting your cool pictures to something like Instagram or Flickr, you can a lot about your pictures and your picture-based presence on social media.
Opensource app devs have gone wild before and there is a chance of repo hacking by a third party.
You can't revert deletions.
Yes, it's way less trust. But there is still a lot of trust. Especially for users that are just running the apps with default relay sets that can disappear at any moment.

Relay operators can close their relay at anytime.
Same for image/video servers.
AND
...unless your app developer or signer app developer goes nuts and makes deletion events to all of your posts and publishes them all without your authorization.
Nostr still needs plenty of trust between players.
Delegating that trust to third parties just adds another rug pull operator.

How do you even do that? Which filter returns only kind 1s with images?
I did it a while back for our image feed, but all I saw was meaningless images without any context. That essentially was why we ended up using nip94 instead.
But I will switch amethyst images to kind 20 to help kick this off.

Getting more convinced that onboarding someone into Nostr can follow two paths:
1. Onboard into a Client, not into Nostr. You "sell" a specific client and don't even use the word Nostr. You are onboarding people into Primal, Amethyst, Damus, etc. Not into Nostr. The protocol doesn't matter.
2. Onboard into Nostr. If you want to onboard to the "protocol", you should onboard them to a Nostr app store, like Zap Store. The store will then on board them into everything else, including a client of your choice.
In practice, you can choose to keep them attached to a brand or to take them into a freedom journey.
But don't sell Nostr and then lock them into Amethyst. That doesn't work. Either sell Amethyst and get them into Amethyst, or sell Nostr and get them into a Nostr store.

There is a fundamental misunderstanding that people care about the apps. No. They care about the communities. And they so happen to be using specific app brands.
Communities make the apps. Not the other way around.

We are trying to see if we can do a Nostr invitation deep link that installs zap.store first and then opens the invitation data with a picture of your friend and a create a new Nostr user screen. When the user inserts his/her name to create a new account, zap.store installs a My Nostr Profile app (a signer, like Amber) and, in the background, asks the signer to create a new user. With the new user created, zap.store follows the friend recommendation to install a client.. say Amethyst. After installed, zap.store sends the users to an Amethyst that was already logged into from Amber straight into the user profile of the friend.
Flow is:
- New user receives a link (or scans a QR Code)
- Zap.store is installed, opens to a new user screen.
- User inserts the name, Amber is installed.
- Zap.store points to Amethyst to install.
- Amethyst is installed, logged in and ready to be used.
Lots of things happening on the backgrond to simplify things. The new user gets a new key, a signer and an app installed and ready to go.

Yeah, we were more upfront in the early days but users thought it was too annoying.
What I realized is Nostr seems fine with not verifying any attached content. Devs tends to be highly dismissive about it and leads to a userbase that is not used to verify attached content.

Then it just means that you are in the pre-seed stage. You are just playing with money with no regard for it. Anyone that has even grown anything knows that growth is all about proving you can do the next step over and over again.
In my eyes, you have a LOT to prove. You talk a big game but talk is cheap. And these days even code is cheap. Demo apps are not proof of anything.

NIP-65 is likely enough and I agree that it is going to take at least 30 years to replace DNS, but Nostr could serve as the test ground for pubky. If you can host all Nostr events via pubky records, faster than what relays can do, then Nostr gets better and pubky gets the testing station that it desperately needs to take on the bigger system.

The NIP-65 records, which is the Nostr's DNS in a way, should be in all relays. Clients should spread that record far and wide.
There are indexing relays like purplepag.es that you can use all fallback, but usually there is no need to.

Are you on primal or amethyst? You have way too many inbox/outbox relays. If you are on Primal go to https://metadata.nostr.com/ log in, click relays and pick 3 that you are SURE to have all of your posts and mark them as WRITE. Then pick 3 (it can be the same) that ANYONE can write into (no paid relays) and select READ.

We must have follow lists for each kind. The kind 1 follow list is different than a blog post follow list. So, all of your options are wrong. :)
Other kinds should never be rendered as root posts on kind 1 clients. But kind 1 clients must render or forward them when they are quoted into a kind 1.

If Nostr wins, I expect any user to have at least 30 clients being actively used in a single phone. If Nostr "micro apps" win, I expect over 100 clients for a regular user.
This is why App management clients are so important. No one will install 100 clients one by one. We must have some form of bundling that facilitates the integration of micro apps to do specific tasks.

Why is Pokey so good?
Pokey connects directly into your inbox relays and keeps the connection open at all times.
Every other notification system is using a server that watches relays for new events and sends them down via Google/Apple/UnifiedPush systems.
It's WAY faster than ANY of these push systems.
There is no restriction on message sizes or frequency. No payment plans for servers and no algorithmic delays from push providers.
It can authenticate in your Private Inbox relays for DMs because it can get Amber to sign as of you. No watching server can do that.
It also decentralizes notifications from Clients. There is no need to run 15 different notification systems, one for each client you want to use.
Once notifications are downloaded, it can pass those events to the appropriate apps to display. You can choose a default app per event kind. And if you don't have an app registered for the event, it can display the notification itself.
It's a win-win-win-win-win situation.

The main issue is that nip-04 leaks way too much data not only to the relay, but to the public in general. On top of that, the encryption procedures of NIP-04 are laughable. The lack of padding alone is a major problem. Imagine saying "Hi" on a DM and that gets converted to 4 encrypted chars. Besides letting everyone know your message is small, how hard is to break the encryption of a 4 char cipher text? Not that hard.
If you repeat GMs around, now you have 100s or 1000s of 4 char encrypted messages. How hard would it be to recover your shared key knowing all those little messages? Not that hard.
With enough shared keys, how hard would it be to figure out somebody's nsec? It gets in the realm of "possible" with today's available computing power.

ohhh I just logged into your relay and it sent ALL the past versions of your own 10002 events. There are 44 10002 events coming down to Amethyst just for yourself. For each one of the 43 outdated events, Amethyst replies with the new one.
@nprofile…x66a something is wrong with haven's replaceable code. A filter by kind 10002 should only return the latest event, not all versions.

No, it only reverts back to the relay that sent the outdated event. So, this usually only happens when somebody had permissions to insert, the relay received a bunch of 10002s and then the relay closed that permission.
That being said, I would keep a copy of everybody's 10002s in my outboxes because it helps clients figure out where to send things if your relay has seen them before.
