Boeing (and all manufacturers historically) gamble with people’s lives. They become aware of issues in many cases and won’t fix them unless issued an air worthiness directive by the FAA (NTSB has no authority to force a manufacturer to implement fixes even if they identify them and report them).
It is costly to ground entire fleets to implement fixes or in some cases reengineer entire parts - so they practice tombstone mentality - where they only act if enough lawsuits force them to (going to cost more than voluntary fixes) address the issue.
It is common practice to blame things on pilot error and to instead ask pilots to remember more things during training instead of implementing actual fixes that don’t require pilots to face the situation in the first place. But if you look at the things that cause issues, a lot of times the procedures to address them properly are complex and not easy to remember. Add to that the stress of an actual emergency and the chances of acting exactly as you expect a pilot to act drop even further. But hey, as long as your life is less worthy than the fix - the show will go on.

I view gold as useless. And I view bitcoin as hundreds of times more valuable than the largest companies in the world combined.
So, until we take that #1 position on the market cap list, I could care less about the fiat value of bitcoin. Even then, I won’t care because everything will start being priced in bitcoin. We will swap the denominator with the thing that is actually valuable to the entire world.
Zoom out. We don’t need to play within the system, we can break out of it entirely. Follow the orange trail.

I feel like exact opposite will happen. At first, we’ll have an explosion of choice of software, but eventually it will all be so easy to make that power will once again concentrate in a few hands. Much as we shifted from browsing independent websites to curated consumption, we’ll likely see a similar trend of going from too much choice to curated solutions. Those that integrate most smoothly will win.

Friendly reminder: don’t fall for the trap of adding more features to your app / client / product just because you can.
Less is more. Focus on basics - the things people ask for not the things you think would be fun to have. You can always add those extra things IF people ask for them.
I think this is probably the biggest problem with 80% of nostr apps - trying to do everything while not even handling the basics well. And to make matters worse, they’ve been around for so long that they forgot what the basics are and just keep expanding their feature bloat.
All big software companies usually start with one basic feature set that does one function really well. They only add new things as they grow. Independent devs see the end result after years of growth and think their app must also contain a ton of features and this is a mistake.
Do everything under the sun and no one will remember you for any of those things. Do one thing super well and people will notice - they want the thing that works best for their needs.

Some of the Nostr apps that already exist are pretty amazing- they just need to be presented the right way to the right people. And this involves active effort to reach out to people and doing some polishing to turn them into beautiful products - be it design or clarity in UX or presentation (landing page to explain things and to sell to audiences)

Maybe this is just a reflection of how little Japanese TV I watch, but it seems that any time I do, there’s a common theme in shows - and it’s to “do your best, make something of your life”. Maybe it’s the social rebellion against the monotony of typical every day life manifested in film, or maybe it’s genuine wish for people to become their best self - I don’t know, but I do find it ironic that on societal level people are generally living cookie cutter pointless employment, with crushing social norms lives over here. I couldn’t take it as a westerner and still don’t. It does make you question what is meant by “making something of your life”? Isn’t everything already something to someone? What’s a wasted life? What’s a well lived life? Who decides? Why must we live to others’ expectations when they themselves are mostly miserable? 🤨
