Olas uses 22 but without comments I think. It has NIP-22 comments but only for the kind 20 pictures.
Zap.stream has NIP-71 videos but I think it has kind 1 comments atm. @nprofile…afsw
Kind 21/22 are hardly used right now - a good time to choose the right kind of comments 😂

Nice. I'm thinking we should use NIP-22 comments for the NIP-71 videos going forward. Kind 1 replys sometimes show up in social media clients without any reference.

Happy to see a bunch of devs working on NOSTR video apps. We have @nprofile…mdhr with ZapTube, @nprofile…3c7e with https://plebs.app/ and my https://nostu.be/ prototype. @nprofile…zx3h has hinted that Primal would also be building a video client.
There are a lot of challenges to tackle (Storage, Bandwidth, Transcoding, Discovery, ....). Since everyone is building on Blossom, we have a need to scale and improve our infrastructure as well.

The default relays should show a bunch of videos. Try to reset the default relays. Then reload the page or switch between Home / Shorts - sometimes the videos are not loaded at first.

Been thinking of this quite a bit. For short video it's better to keep simple single mp4 files. HLS overhead makes sense for > 200MB or > 5min video.
We also need to scale the blossom infrastructure (more servers, cashu payments, resumable uploads and expiration/temporary storage might also help).

I didn’t fully read your post before replying… you were talking about the resized/optimized media.
I don’t think disabling is a good idea, having the option as good but generally UX will be worse (slower) and media will take more bandwidth (mobile).
The only way to be absolutely sure would be to post and host multiple renditions of the content, as we have in the video spec NIP-71 for example. No one is doing that, though.
I think the best option would be, if a media optimization / CDN service was configurable in a client. We would need to have a standard for the API for them. Then more people could run these themselves or use trusted providers.

For blossom based content the client could also validate the sha256 hash of the media to match the url, which is signed in the event.

I don't have the wealth to live of but I do have some cushion. I imagine I will still be working in software development projects - that's what I know and love since I was a child.
Ideally I can work in the Bitcoin/NOSTR space with projects that have more purpose than the client projects I'm sold into today.
