using podcastfy (python lib) I just created a workflow where I can turn any url, pdf or youtube video into a custom ai-generated podcast. it even generates an rss feed so I can listen on my phone via fountain when I'm out and about.
I just pointed it at my relatively empty website to see what would happen:

Whats cool about this vs the current damus iOS search is that it has full nostr filter support. Meaning you can narrow down the fulltext search by author, date range, etc.
I’m thinking about supporting this via advanced search modifiers like:
“from:@npub180c…h6w6 since:yesterday bitcoin fixes this”

I've setup ollama.jb55.com as my AI model server. my own private GPU-powered coding agent over wireguard that I can use anywhere. so cool.
I've also setup n8n.jb55.com as an AI workflow/CI server, going to build MCP/goose tools where my agents can trigger specific workflows for me.
Example 1: "hey goose, can you start a code review for prs #42 and #920?
Action:
1. n8n workflow that fetches the PR
2. passes the diffs to the local LLM for review
3. sends nostr node to my local relay so that I am notified.
Example 2: "hey goose, can you tell me if I have any important looking emails from my team"
Action: call `notmuch search query:work` and read my damus work emails, summarizing the most important ones for me
After this I am going to try to implement hotword detection so I can just say "hey goose" and then have it listen to commands so I don't have to type them. All with local LLMs!

I don’t know how you can do development on this platform without absolutely dispising the company after a few attempts to deploy your code.
happy that we are free from apple so we can start innovating with freedom tech again.
can’t build new freedom tech in a jailed ecosystem that doesn’t want its users to be free, so that they can treat you like cattle to milk that 30% tax on all your in app transactions. Not the mention all of the horrific transaction privacy issues that arises from this.

"look everyone is using custodial lightning so we should embrace that" makes me feel sick. I always thought this was a temporary measure until we had better wallets, TIL the plan now is to embrace it fully for mass onboarding.
We're working with a few partners to try an alternative approach. If it fails then it fails, but at least I can sleep at night knowing we tried.
Mass onboarding into custody seems like a disaster without a really good non-custodial offboarding plan.

so now in theory I could write a script that pulls down the email, decrypts, verifys the amount, sends a bitcoin payment, updates my records. all the the click of a button. so much more civilized than pdf invoices.

I’ve heard this sentiment so many times and I don’t get it. Are we not supposed to integrate bitcoin into things? Apparently nostr is a “ddos” on bitcoin development 😆?? What does it have to do with bitcoin? We simply use lightning for payments, and many other protocols should too!
I would normally write this off as unhinged but I keep seeing it.

oof nip-17 group chats are quite spammy. if there are 20 people in the group you need to send 20 notes for each message you send. 100 notes each time a user sends a message to a group of 100 people, etc. that wouldn't work well on the damus relay with write rate limiting.

apple’s private relay (MASQUE) seems better than a vpn for web requests:
1. you encrypt the request for the second hop’s exit node (cloudflare?),
2. Apple can’t see what you are requesting.
3. The exit node can’t see who made the original request since it is proxied by apple.
Clever! Going to try to use this in damus ios for relay connections.

slowing converting from a rust skeptic to rust maxi. the compiler will initially frustrate you but it is really just trying to teach you something important.
The haskell compiler is similar in a way: it forces you to think about the separation of side effects from pure code. Rust forces you to think about the correctness of references to objects in memory.
Initially it is frustrating but in the end it leads to enlightenment.

Sorry you have to deal with this shit @npub12z8…9zmx I feel bad now when I said this would be a more accepting place than the alternatives when I invited you here, but it looks like some apps still want to do things the old ways.
Looks like many people are already jumping into content moderation (moderated communities, report shadowbanning, centralized moderated feeds)
Not my cup of tea… will double the efforts on client-controlled feeds and moderation. This should always be a users choice, not some ruler who wants to make these decisions for you.

I built damus because none of the clients I used at the time could handle my volume of posting. They all crashed 😆. Great thing about having an account with a large number of interactions is that I can optimize it in realtime.

Hello App Store users! Important things to know about Zaps ⚡️ in this version:
v1.2.0 has private zaps, these are zaps that look anonymous to everyone except the person receiving the zap. Only they can see who it was from and the message inside.
Your identity and messages is end to end encrypted to the user, and its not like DMs where people can see the metadata. It’s completely private!
You can access private zaps and other zap customization settings by long pressing the zap button. You can also change your single-tap zap amount in settings.
