Now that it's official that ChromeOS will cease to exist and the ChromeOS experience will be based on Android instead of Linux, and given that Android's development just became private (still open source though), the expectation is that Samsung will merge their Dex work into Android Desktop in a similar way they did between Google Watch and Samsung Watch over the past 3 years. Android 16 already has some Chrome OS features, including a desktop window manager. But it is quite early/buggy yet.
This means you will see Android laptops in the future and might see and Amethyst Desktop at some point.

Also, my check your relays, people. They are not even there anymore. Your followers are looking for your posts in servers that don't exist anymore. Many relays operate in this way, no? They only ask for AUTH after a REQ if the REQ or EVENT needs auth.
I don't think it makes sense to wait for AUTH upon connection.

1st, do a WoT and only take reports from actual accounts.
I always wanted to create a way to report a report as incorrect so that there is some punishment for WoT accounts if they lie. Then you can score how trustworthy a reporting account is by how many incorrect reports it has.
Of course, anyone can also do an incorrect report of an incorrect report. But I think a good WoT analysis can sort them out. If reporting groups are fighting each other, both of them go down.
Need to think more about this game theory approach.

You know what... it's not impossible to connect with 300 relays simultaneously from an Android app... 🫠
If I can make this code a little better, we may get to 1000 relay connections and quite literally allow a different relay for each user you follow. There wouldn't be any need for larger relays.
Since each relay only has some events related to that user, it doesn't actually consume that much more on the data plan than bringing everything from a central relay.

Picture you saying: I want to buy a Nuclear reactor. You know nothing about building it, but you can go learn, fundraise, hire a bunch of people, go through all kinds of regulations and red tape and deliver one. It will take forever. We can't do anything about primal. It will always show all pictures you put into any post.
We did have a separate add to gallery button. But people didn't like that. So, we just turned the olas (or the picture feed from the middle tab on Amethyst) to display there in the same way Instagram does it.

They are different. Primal gallery doesn't use the picture feed from Olas, ours does. Primal processes all regular posts and extracts posts with images to build the gallery. Something too hard to do without a central server.

Swipe up to close apps on Android doesn't make your phone any faster. It usually doesn't even close the apps, including Amethyst. You can just leave them all open.
Android will close the oldest apps when it needs the space automatically. If your phone is not visibly closing apps for you, your swipe up is not doing anything.

There are many reasons to build on Nostr, but to me the main one is the fact that we don't have a central codebase anywhere.
If @nprofile…xuyp had said "this is nostr and here is my library you all should use", I would have never done anything in Nostr.
Amethyst, Primal, Coracle, NoStrudel, and Damus and many other apps before and after us are all built from scratch.
No vendor lock in. No centralized dependencies. No core choke point to kill it all together.
True decentralization is hard. But it is worth every penny.

Nostr gives your identity back. It doesn't necessarily give your data back.

This sounds like you never had investors before. This "real investor" you talk about doesn't exist. It never existed. It will never exist. It's wishful thinking. A purely theoretical view of how things should be run. Which is ok for the books, and that's it. Its like saying that electricity is made by electrons flowing on a wire. Its great for high school science BS, but misses what actually happens, why it works or exists in the way it does. You will never change how investments (or grants) work, you can only learn to surf the wave for the benefit of your customers. If you think Nostr is unique in that regard, you are just suffering an extreme case of "the grass is always greener in the other side of the fence". This market mismatch that you describe that we have on nostr is not anything especial or unique to us. Or bigger here than in other places/fields. It is as common as shells on a beach.

Your estimate of 80% is way too high. Revenue-wise, Alby alone is probably bigger than Primal at this moment. Fountain, Wavelake, Satellite, nostr.build, nostr1.com, nostr.land, nostr.wine, jellyfish are also taking good chunks.
